I come back to this story pretty regularly as it has become one if my favorites. I like the dynamics between Solo and Illya, as well as the one that develops between Illya and Barrows. Sometimes it really does take knocking off a bigot's skewed glasses to let them see reality. Brava.

Hello again. I was curious about your conversation with Beth re: the gun. As I read it, it is Illya who takes the gun from the dead guard. Just thought I would throw in my two cents worth.

Read and enjoyed this story a few times, Illya being hurt and all. BUT: would like to have had Barrows accomplice named and dealt with. And even if Illya's rescue and forgiveness made Barrows see the light, I would like to think he was punished for what he did. Too many people get off, because they say 'sorry'.

To Beth: Thanks for posting your comments. Actually, the gun you refer to was one of Barrow's guards, not Barrow's. Nice to know folks read for details! I love betas!

Good story. Enjoyed the turn around in the end.

The beta in me kicked in... before Barrows left Napoleon's office he handed over his gun but in medical with the alarms blaring he had it back.
